St. Patrick’s Day 2016: The 5 Best Irish Athletes In Sports [SLIDESHOW]

St. Patrick’s Day 2016: The 5 Best Irish Athletes In Sports

Happy St. Patrick’s Day everyone! In honor of the religious holiday that falls on the death date of Saint Patrick, the foremost patron saint of Ireland, we bring you five of the greatest Irish athletes in sports. Rather than focus on the greatest Irish athletes of all-time, which includes greats like Ben Hogan, John Elway, Sam Snead, John Stockton, Kevin McHale, Mark McGwire, Jimmy Connors, John McEnroe, Nolan Ryan and Whitey Ford, we chose to focus on current athletes in all sports today.

So if you’re out there wearing green or drinking beer, celebrate these sports figures of Irish decent who have made an impact on sports and more than likely your life if you’re a fan. With each of these superstars reaching the pinnacle of their own sports respectively, it’s needless to say they have a lil’ bit of the luck of the Irish.
