As Thanksgiving approaches, we prepare to get together with family for a delicious feast, create new memories and give thanks for a year that’s coming to an end. Beyond the historical context of the day, it’s important to sit down and reflect on everything that’s happened in the course of the past 12 months, and how we’re going to start preparing for the next year to come. We’ll give thanks for all the things that have happened, either good or bad, and how those things eventually found their place in the puzzle of our lives. Too much gratitude is never enough, and here are some quotes to remind us of that.

“Be thankful for what you have; you'll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don't have, you will never, ever have enough.” - Oprah Winfrey

“I am grateful for what I am and have. My thanksgiving is perpetual. It is surprising how contented one can be with nothing definite - only a sense of existence. Well, anything for variety. I am ready to try this for the next ten thousand years, and exhaust it. How sweet to think of! My extremities well charred, and my intellectual part too, so that there is no danger of worm or rot for a long while. My breath is sweet to me. O how I laugh when I think of my vague indefinite riches. No run on my bank can drain it, for my wealth is not possession but enjoyment.” - Henry David Thoreau

“If the only prayer you said in your whole life was, ‘thank you,’ that would suffice.” - Meister Eckhart

“So once in every year we throng upon a day apart, to praise the Lord with feast and song in thankfulness of heart.” - Arthur Guiterman
