In what was probably the most highly anticipated moments of the 2016 Tony Awards, Lin-Manuel Miranda and the cast of his Broadway smash hit “Hamilton” performed two of the play’s songs, plus a little introduction for host James Corden, with a parody of the tune “Alexander Hamilton.”

Being that it is near impossible to get tickets for the coveted show, people were anxious to get a glimpse of what goes on inside the theatre where the musical takes place every night, and after earning a total of 11 Tonys on Sunday night, fans got a peak at the extraordinary performances.

Earlier on in the show, Miranda accepted the first award for “Hamilton” for Best Music & Lyrics and gave an extremely moving speech about his wife and the tragic Orlando shooting that took place today at a gay nightclub during a Latin-themed night.

“My wife is the reason anything gets done. She notches me towards promise my degrees. She is a perfect symphony of one. Our son is her most beautiful repreess,” Miranda began. “We chase the melodies that seem to find us, until they’re finished songs and start to play. When senseless acts of tragedy remind us that nothing here is promised. Not one day. This show is proof that history remembers. We live through times where hate and fear seem stronger. We rise and fall and light from dying embers. Remembrances that hope and love last longer,” he continued before choking up. “Love is love is love is love is love is love. It cannot be killed or swept aside. I sing Vanessa’s symphony; Eliza sings her song and fill the world with music, love and pride,” he concluded.

Tony Award officials announced before the show that the entire ceremony was dedicated to the victims of the horrific massacre.
