It is hard to believe 2013 is almost over. The year has just flown by and there have been almost 365 days of Latinos making headlines. We still have 14-days left of the year and anything can happen. So far this year we have seen a number of news stories involving Latinos that are heartbreaking, entertaining, downright wrong and grabbed hold of the nation's attention. Latin Times has put together a list of Latinos who gave shame to the name in 2013. While there are plenty of names that could go on the list we have 10.

Those who made their way onto the Latin Times wall of shame have done so for different reasons. For example we have Snooki. The Chilean born "Jersey Shore" alum gave shame to the name with her performance on the past season of "Dancing with the Stars." The potty-mouthed peanut was eliminated after her zombie themed performance in October. Other Latinos that soiled the good name of Latin America include Jodi Arias, George Zimmerman and Ariel Castro. These three people were involved with three of America's biggest criminal cases of 2013.

George Zimmerman was accused of killing 17-year-old Trayvon Martin and charged with second degree murder. Martin was a teen from Florida walking home from the deli after grabbing some candy and a drink. Zimmerman a former neighborhood watch captain saw Martin and believed he fit the description of individuals responsible for break-ins in his neighborhood. Zimmerman followed Martin and depending on who you believe, Zimmerman shot Martin in cold blood after racially profiling him or Martin attacked Zimmerman forcing the accused to act in self-defense. When Zimmerman was acquitted the nation split and riots broke out among the outraged.

Jodi Arias is scheduled to be sentenced to either life in prison or death in Feb. 2014. Her trial was at the forefront of the national news during the spring. After a series of lies began to unravel at her feet Arias admitted that she killed her former boyfriend Travis Alexander. Also claiming self-defense Arias stabbed Alexander 30 times, cut his throat and shot him in the head. Arias was convicted in May but the jury could not make a decision regarding a life or death sentence. Arias will now face a new jury that must decide if she will live or die for her crime.

Ariel Castro is likely the most shameful name on our list. The Cleveland resident kept three women hostage in his home for over a decade. In May 2013 Amanda Berry escaped from the house of horrors and called police. Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight were all rescued from the house and Arias was arrested. The three women were beaten, tortured and raped for ten years. Castro took a plea deal and was sentenced to life plus 1000-years in jail. Unable to handle just a few weeks in captivity Castro took his own life in prison.

Isabella Guzman an 18-year-old from Colorado was accused and arrested of stabbing her mother 79 times in the face and neck. The teen is facing a first degree murder charge in the death of Yun-Mi Hoy. Speaking with police Guzman's stepfather said the girl and her mother had often fought and Guzman even spit in her face once. In the days leading up to the murder the fights between mother and daughter had increased. Guzman was arrest and formally charged in September.

Another troubled teen, Tiona Rodriguez made national headlines when she was caught shoplifting at a NYC Victoria's Secret. The crime itself is not headline making. The sad truth is that teens of all races steel. Rodriguez made headlines after store security checked her bag and found a dead fetus inside. Rodriguez said she had miscarried the child and did not know what to do with the remains. Rodriguez and a friend were arrested at the store. Recently her friend pled guilty to shoplifting but Rodriguez will stand trial as she has pled not guilty. The medical examiner is still determining the cause of death for the fetus.

Aaron Hernandez not only brought shame to the Latino name he also brought shame to the game of football. The former New England Patriot has been sitting in a jail cell since the summer on charges of murder. Hernandez is accused of killing Odin Lloyd. The former NFL star recently sent a letter to a hometown friend that was released to TMZ. In the letter Hernandez tells his friend he is innocent and is hopeful he will be out of jail within a few years and playing ball again.

Known as the "Facebook Murderer" southern Miami resident Derek Medina is accused of killing his wife then posting a photo of the murder on Facebook. The body of 26-year-old Jennifer Alfonso was discovered in her home after Medina confessed to police he killed his wife after a domestic dispute. After killing his wife Medina photographed her dead body then posted a goodbye to friends on Facebook under the caption "RIP Jennifer Alfonso." "I'm going to prison or death sentence for killing my wife love you guys take care Facebook people you will see me in the news," Medina wrote.

Switching gears from those who would commit the most brutal of acts we get a group of women looking to be the Latin American version of the Kardashian sisters. The Tequila Sisters, Jen, Laurie, Jackie and Catherine Marin were given their own show on TVGN. Like most reality TV the show is about a group of women, their privileged lives and the big nothing they are famous for. The show debuted on Dec. 10 and attempts to give itself value by saying it is taking a look at how difficult life can be for first generation Mexican Americans.

Our finale shameful Latino is Republican Senator Ted Cruz. The Texas Senator was instrumental in leading the Republicans into shutting down the American Government. In a move reminiscent of a two year old throwing a tantrum when he didn't get his way the Republicans shut down the government in opposition to the president's health care plan. The move received enormous criticism and even former Republican Presidential candidate Rick Santorum said Cruz "did more harm" than good by forcing the shutdown.
