When you think of traditional Mexican music, you don’t think of a saucy, sexy powerhouse Latina diva with a hip-hop swagger and a whole lot of heart. However, Victoria “La Mala” Ortiz is about to change that perception for good. The singer and songwriter transforms the Banda genre with her impressive vocal range, striking style, and urban savvy. She describes this enigmatic musical hybrid best.

“If 2Pac and Selena had a child, it would be me,” the singer declares with a grin. “I have old school influences with a new spirit.”

Victoria La Mala is breaking boundaries in a genre dominated by men. The Regional Mexican artist has become one of the few women to break the TOP 40 of the Regional Mexican Radio Chart with her first official radio single, "Vete Mucho", peaking at #29. She was also the only Regional Mexican artist to perform as part of the 2017 SXSW lineup. She has been on the artist to watch/hot lists for People en Español, Billboard, Latina and Pandora.

Victoria recently announced her fist headline show on June 24 at The Parish House Of Blues in Anaheim, California. She continues with a jam packed promotion in the USA, and she released on May 5 her new single, "Si va a doler que duela". Listen to the track here.

She visited Latin Times offices and performed via Facebook Live her singles and cover songs. Watch the full video below.

"La Mala" also premiered her new video for "Si Va a Doler que Duela," where we see a heartbroken Victoria after losing her boyfriend tragically, a relationship we see as flashbacks during the video. Her heartfelt performance showcases the raw emotion of the song and brings to life the song’s lyrics pulling the viewer into the story.

The singer who was recently named by Billboard as one of the Five Millennial Mexican Acts Repping the Latin Genre You Need to Hear Now, has been chosen to perform the national anthem at one of the most awaited, prized fights of the year, Andre Ward vs. Sergey Kovalev 2: “The Rematch.” The Regional Mexican artist has the honor to sing the national anthem at the 12-round mega-fight on Saturday, June 17 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
