Demi Lovato is on her way to sobriety following her overdose last year. A lot of people have been helping her on her journey — her family, friends, fans and support groups. Additionally, her former Disney friends, Selena Gomez and Miley Cyrus, have been by her side all throughout.

As for her friend, Ariana Grande, the “God Is A Woman” singer is pretty busy at the moment since she just started her “Sweetener” tour, which won't wrap up until October. She is set to perform a total of 76 shows in North America and Europe. However, even with all that going on, she made sure to keep in touch with Lovato during her recovery.

While their friendship is not displayed on the internet, they are known to be very close friends who like to gush about each other during interviews. In fact, Grande has been nothing but supportive of her friend, whether it be in music or her sobriety.

The two stars have been obviously keeping in touch based on their many Twitter and Instagram interactions ever since Lovato got back on her feet. The “Sorry Not Sorry” singer even joked about coming with Grande on her tour. As for Grande, she had time to repost a selfie of Lovato on her Instagram just to compliment her, which goes to show that she keeps tabs on her friend.

This doesn't come as a surprise. A bigger shock will be Grande missing out on Lovato's recovery. After news of her relapse circulated last year, she was one of the first celebrities to voice her support for Lovato. Her mother, Joan Grande, even penned a lengthy message of love for the afflicted singer.

When Grande was accused by a fan last month of not supporting Lovato but showering Cyrus a lot of love, she made sure to strike back. “[I] talk to her everyday u psycho,” she wrote, before referring to Lovato as her “friend friend.”

Indeed, her love for Lovato's music is what started their whole friendship. Back in 2013, Grande fangirled over her vocals on “Heart Attack.” Not long after, the she was spotted hanging out with Lovato, saying she was “so sweet and so talented.”

The “Thank U, Next” singer remained a huge fan of Lovato as their friendship evolved. She said she “had to hit up” Lovato to compliment her on her work in her 2015 song “Confident.”

Lovato, on the other hand, revealed that she loves being around Grande because she is someone she can be real and “super chill” with. “The people that aren't willing to chill with you at home are the type of people that just want to be seen with you. When Ariana Grande and I hang out, it's super chill,” Lovato shared with Billboard last year.

When it was Grande who was in a difficult situation following the devastating attack at her concert in Manchester, Lovato was among the people who sent love and prayers to Grande and her fans.

Even though Grande and Lovato kept things on a down low during her recovery, it looks like Grande made sure to be there for her friend during such a time of need. She said it herself — a lot of things happen offscreen that fans don't know about.
