Meghan Markle is reportedly being supervised by Queen Elizabeth II’s officials at Buckingham Palace. The move came after the Duchess of Sussex left one royal staff feeling horrified when she went against protocol.

A senior palace aide told Daily Mail that the Queen asked her officials to keep a close eye on Meghan and her husband, Prince Harry. The decision came after the “Suits” alum released a statement about her dad, Thomas Markle Sr., ahead of her royal wedding.

Buckingham Palace was left horrified because they have a long-standing rule to never speak out when in doubt. But Meghan went against this protocol even before she became an official member of the royal family.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s new communications director, Sara Latham, was asked to follow the orders of Donald McCabe, the Queen’s communications secretary. Following the incident, the royal couple’s household staff has also been instructed to keep a close watch on Meghan and Prince Harry’s diary, which includes their engagements and royal announcements.

“They decide what to put in front of the senior royals,” the source told Express. “It’s a bit like the civil service. Engagements are scheduled by the committee. Diaries are cross-referenced to ensure there isn’t a clash and they decide if an event is suitable,” the source added.

The source also said that even though Meghan and Prince Harry now have a separate household, it is still the Queen’s orders that should always come first. The intention is to make whatever it is that they would do still coordinated with the rest of the other households. This also means that there won’t be an Independent State of Frogmore, which is where the royal couple lives.

Meghan and Prince Harry also created their own social media account recently, and they regularly update their Instagram profile with photos and details about their royal duties and engagements and their personal lives. The most recent upload on their account is a photo of their son’s foot.
