Since Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez got engaged, rumors about their wedding plans have started to swirl around. Although some of these rumors are true, one tabloid report about Mexico being J. Lo and A-Rod’s chosen wedding destination is not one of them.

Earlier this week, a magazine claimed that Lopez had scheduled the wedding in July to coincide with her 50th birthday. The supposed source reportedly told the magazine that the ceremony would feature “a world-class chef and entertainment, lavish flowers and a lot of extravagant personal touches.” “She loves getting people talking and being the center of attention,” the source allegedly said. “You can bet her wedding will reflect that.”

Gossip Cop verified this information with an insider close to Lopez and found that the said report was fake despite the statements given by the unidentified “source.” A source close to Rodriguez also denied that the power couple is set to tie the knot in Mexico this July.

According to Lopez’s representative, Lopez would be busy for the whole month of July for her “It’s My Party” concert tour. There is also no truth in reports that the wedding will be held on her birthday on July 24 because she still has a show in Orlando the day before her birthday and another one in Miami on the 26th. “The idea that she will be flying to Mexico for a giant wedding during the two days she has off is illogical,” Gossip Cop noted. The publication added that J. Lo might celebrate her birthday in Florida instead and that the occasion would not double as a wedding.

Lopez and Rodriguez announced their engagement on Saturday. Since their announcement, several celebrity friends took to social media to express their interest to be a part of the big day, including Oprah Winfrey, Jimmy Kimmel and Ellen DeGeneres.

Last Tuesday, DeGeneres even took credit for A-Rod getting down on one knee and popping the question to J. Lo, joking that she was the one who gave the former baseball superstar the needed push to propose to his girlfriend. She also sarcastically poked fun at J. Lo’s figure. “I’m not sure when the wedding is, but I hope it’s not too soon because she needs time to get in shape, y’all,” she said.
