#5 Giovani dos Santos – Mexio’s Giovani dos Santos sent all of Mexico into a frenzy after he dialed in from long distance between three Dutch defenders on this incredible shot. Mexico would go on to lose the match 2-1.

#4 Lionel Messi – The “little genius” cracks the top 5 for the second week in a row with one of the best free kicks we have ever seen. The bend on this kick was so strong that the Nigerian goalkeeper didn’t even attempt to stop it. Can you say: deer in the headlights? Well done, Messi. Argentina won 3-2.

#3 James Rodriguez – James (pronounced “Hi-Mays”) Rodriguez is a breakout star in the tournament. The current golden boot leader showed off his skill and footwork on this beautiful goal in group play against Japan. James scored a double in the match and Colombia won 4-1.

#2 Xherdan Shaqiri – The Swiss were wondering when their star Xherdan Shaqiri would show up in the 2014 World Cup. He finally did against Honduras and in a big way as he scored a hat trick for Switzerland. This amazing goal while on the move from distance was his first of the game. Switzerland beat Honduras behind Shaqiri 3-0.

#1 James Rodriguez – No this is not a typo, James Rodriguez made our top five, twice! It could have been three times as he had a great goal against Uruguay late. However, this was the goal of that game and possibly the entire tournament. Rodriguez took a header pass off his chest and in one motion struck it from distance while being surrounded by six Uruguayan defenders. Amazing! Colombia won the match 2-0.
