We can tell from the way she is on social media and from the couple of times that we've interviewed her in person that Ximena Duque has a heart of gold. When she's not acting in telenovelas, traveling the world, or spending quality time with her loved ones, Duque can be found raising awareness on important mundane topics. Her caring and selfless ways, in fact, have garnered the Colombian actress the opportunity to be recognized as a Global Ambassador for Miami Children's Health Foundation, which is the fundraising arm of Nicklaus Children’s Hospital.

As a celebrity ambassador, the foundation announced that the Telemundo starlet will help bring awareness to the medical research and breakthroughs done at the hospital and its efforts to help bring these discoveries to children not just in U.S., but Latin America and around the world.

“I am so excited and honored to be able to join such a wonderful organization like Miami Children’s Health Foundation and help raise awareness so that all of our children can have access to the best medical care right here in South Florida,” Duque, who is a mother of one, said to Latin Times in a statement. “I look forward to coming back and volunteering in many of the departments I had a chance to visit, and to spend time with the families.”

Early this year, the "Dueños del Paraiso" actress visited the former Miami Children's Hospital, where she met some of the young patients receiving treatment. Her visit back in February was a great opportunity for the 31-year-old actress from Cali, Colombia to listen to the patient's experiences and how his or her families are benefiting from being treated at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. “It was wonderful to have Ximena learn about our international programs and how we are helping treat children beyond our borders,” said Lucy Morillo, president and CEO of Miami Children’s Health Foundation. “During her visit she immediately bonded with our patients and could see how our hospital is making every stride to make their stay as comfortable as possible.”

Duque, who embarked her acting career in 2006 with her role in Telemundo's "Decisiones," will make her cross-over debut in May as part of NBC's daytime soap "Days Of Our Lives."
