The 2014 Formula 1 German Grand Prix at Hockenheim is Sunday, July 20, at 7:30 am EDT. The Hockenheim Grand Prix will be shown on NBC this Sunday morning but for race fans out there that will not have access to NBC Sports when the lights go out, be sure to catch the live stream online by signing up for NBC Sports LiveExtra here.

Lewis Hamilton fans are gutted this German Grand Prix weekend as a frustrating mechanical failure once again means Nico Rosberg will sit on pole while Hamilton must battle down the grid. Hamilton crashed out during Qualifying session 1 when brake failure at Turn 13 caused him to lose control and slam against the tire wall.

“I'm in a little bit of pain but that's what usually happens when you have a crash like that,” Hamilton said following the crash. “I think they said I pulled 30 Gs or something like that.”

“It just takes you by complete surprise,” Hamilton admitted. “It happens so quickly. When you're driving, you have to 100 per cent confidence in the car and you never ever enter a corner thinking something is going to happen, so you hit the brake pedal and it's a real shock.”

“Obviously, Nico has basically got another gift, but we'll do what we can tomorrow,” Hamilton continued. “We'll figure something out – there's still a decent amount of races to go...”

Championship leader Nico Rosberg took pole position for the German Grand Prix with the fastest lap of 1:16.540s on his first run in Q3. Rosberg will start alongside Williams driver Valtteri Bottas, who was only 0.219 seconds shy of pole. Williams driver Felipe Massa will start third, a testament to the strong and consistent pace at Williams. McLaren rookie Kevin Magnussen managed to deliver the uncompetitive package to fourth position. However, eyes will be focused just behind Magnussen as we expect fireworks from the all-Red Bull third row with Daniel Ricciardo again outqualifying Sebastian Vettel.

Fernando Alonso will line-up seventh on the grid ahead of Daniil Kvyat. The Force India pair, Nico Hulkenberg and Sergio Perez, rounds out the Top 10.
