The LigaMX champion is about to be crowned as the finals near. América and Chivas will face off once again on Sunday, May 14, to determine who will go on to the final. The second leg of the match will take place at Estadio Azteca in México City. Both teams hold an intense rivalry, which raises the stakes as it will be the first time since 2007 that both meet up during the Liguilla. The Mexican Super Clásico played during the week but neither team scored.

During the intense match, both teams lost a player, ending the game with 10 men. Rubens Sambueza was sent off the field by referee Cesar Ramos when he received a second yellow card. Angel Zaldivar received a red card during the 82nd minute. "We were good defensively," America manager Ignacio "Nacho" Ambriz said after the match. "They just had Zaldivar's header in the second half." With the second leg being played at America's home turf, Chivas manager Matias Almeyda said, "It's going to motivate us. There might not be words to describe it. It's a notorious match against our notorious rival."
