Convicted murderer Jodi Arias is earning a living despite being locked up and facing a possible death sentence. The woman who had been at the forefront of the American media during the early part of 2013 is now selling her artwork online. Arias was an amateur photographer and artist before becoming one of the nation's most infamous female killers. Arias' artwork is available through her website, a small collection Arias' includes portraits of deceased celebrities like Elvis and Lucile Ball.

Arias is currently sitting in a jail cell after being convicted of the 2008 murder of her one time boyfriend Travis Alexander. Lawyers are working to schedule a sentencing hearing so Arias can learn her fate. The same jury that convicted Jodi Arias of first degree murder in May could not decide if she should receive life in prison or the death penalty. Since they were unable to make a decision the trial jury was excused and a new jury has yet to be sworn in.

Jodi Arias has a few original pieces of art on sale on her website. The Arizona woman had been selling her pieces since the early stages on her trial. Arias has been described by some as a callous and calculating woman and her being able to sell her artwork while in jail has some wondering if she is profiting from her crime. Arias was the 2013 Casey Anthony and while Anthony had the entire nation against her Arias found she had some supporters.

Her artwork was likely never as popular in the past as it is in the months following her trial and conviction. Arias is not the only killer to make a buck selling jail house artwork. Someone once paid $3,200 for a pictured titled "The Night Stalker" because it was painted by the serial killer Richard Ramirez. Charles Manson made $3,500 and more for his sketches. In the United States there is a law adopted in many states that prevents criminals from profiting from their crimes.

Known as the "Son of Sam law" the act was named after a serial killer from New York City who tried to sell a book about his crimes from prison. Arizona is a state that has the "Son of Sam law" but since Arias' artwork is not directly related to her crime it is unlikely that she will be made to discontinue selling her pieces. "I think she is pushing the law as far as she can both in her murder trial and in her defense and now selling this artwork," said legal analyst Brian Foster to FOX 10.

Right now the Arias website is offering two paintings. Priced at $1,500 one is called "Sailing at Sunset" and the other "Angel" for $39.00." Arias uses Twitter to promote her sales with tweets saying, "Angle, now available" and "If you pre-ordered a limited-edition print of "Sailing at Sunset," shipping has started." Arias is active on Twitter updating her 78,446 followers with her every thought and move. "I'm reading Bram Stoker's 'Dracula' for Halloween" and "Just finished 'The Bell Jar' by Sylvia Plath. What a depressing book, but some parts were funny."
