Sadly, soul music can't solve everything. Marvin Gaye's son is none too happy with rocker Lenny Kratvitz's decision to star as his late father in a new biopic provocatively entitled, "Sexual Healing."

"The producers and directors of this film are very wrong and shameful," Marvin Gaye III told TMZ. "[They're] trying to do a film about a low period in his life. They don't even know the whole story."

Kravitz and Gaye III were classmates, and Gaye's son wants to discuss the project with Kravitz to find out "why he would do this," TMZ noted.

Gaye III says he and other family members are currently meeting with lawyers to try to stop production. "I would hope [Lenny] doesn't have any idea that we are against this film being done," he added.

Marvin Gaye's second and last wife is also reportedly unhappy with the project, saying she feels "very skeptical" about the film, according to NME.

At this time, Kravitz has yet to comment.

Gaye III, who was adopted by Marvin Gaye, was recently in trouble with the Internal Revenue Service, according to The Huffington Post. The famous singer's son was also sued in 2007 by Lou Rawls Jr., the son of Lou Rawls, who claimed he was attacked by "four large dogs" while visiting Gaye III. As Spinner.com noted, Gaye III has a history of going out of his way to protect his father's legacy, and has sued for copyright infringement on songs.

"Sexual Healing" is said to chart the final years of Gaye's life when the soul legend lived in London in the early 1980s, as he suffered with a crippling alcohol addiction and battled issues concerning unpaid taxes. Gaye briefly managed to reduce his drug dependency and regain his confidence after relocating to Ostend, Belgium, according to NME.

Marvin Gaye's father fatally shot him in 1984 after the singer got into an argument with his parents over misplaced business documents. His father pled guilty to voluntary manslaughter and served five years probation.

While Kravitz has appeared in films like "Precious" and "The Hunger Games," this will be the musician's first major movie role. British filmmaker Julien Temple will direct.

Temple has a long history covering music, documenting much of the rise of punk in the U.K. He's directed numerous music documentaries such as the tale of the 70s British punk band the Sex Pistols called, "The Great Rock And Roll Swindle," and a biography of Joe Strummer, singer/songwriter for The Clash, "Joe Strummer - The Future Is Unwritten."

While Temple's directed plenty of feature-length films, he may be best known for his work in music videos. The British director has helmed projects for The Kinks, The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson, Eric B & Rakim, Neil Young and Tom Petty.

Meanwhile, Kravitz is also reported to be working on an album subtly titled 'Negrophilia'. He told Billboard earlier this year: "It is very funky, very, very raw. [2011's] 'Black And White America' was very produced. Although it's all natural and organic, it's a very produced record. That's the mode I was in at that time. But ('Negrophilia') is a very raw, jagged-edged album."
