Sometimes, one song is not enough to convey everything you want to say. Ask Juanes: After four multi-platinum records, 23 Grammys and having the world at his feet, the Colombian superstar will walk the extra mile with his memoir, "Chasing The Sun," out on April 2.

The book, which will be simultaneously published in Spanish with the title "Persiguiendo El Sol," will include personal details about his life and never-seen-before photos on the musician's upbringing in Medellin, the violence capital in Colombia.

Need a Juanes fix now? Check out 10 things you did not know about the singer:

1. His real name is not Juanes ... sort of

"Juanes" is not his legal name, but it is what his father has called him since he can remember. He was born under the name Juan Esteban Aristizábal Vásquez ... Juan plus Es (teban). There it is.

2. He was married (twice) with two children

Making mistakes is human ... Retracting them is even more so. Juanes married Colombian model Karen Martínez in 2004. The couple separated three years later, to patch things up a few months later and live happily with their two daughters, Paloma and Luna, and stop confusing the press from that moment on.

3. He is a multifaceted philanthropist

His love is not only music: He is just as well known for his selfless advocacy acts. He founded a non-profit in 2006 to help children exposed to violence in Colombia, holds benefit concerts for Colombia Without Mines, is a Goodwill Ambassador for the "United for Colombia" foundation, and founded and promoted the Peace Without Borders concert to ask for a farewell to the arms between Colombia and Venezuela. Busy guy.

4. He has his own radio show

In early 2013, Sirius XM radio announced a monthly broadcast of "Yo Soy Juanes" (I Am Juanes), in which the singer will play his favorite tunes and tell fans a little about his career and inspirations.

5. He has no plans to sing in English

Hispanic pride: Juanes revealed he has no plans on releasing an album in English. He did say he would be happy to record some songs, once his language skills improve.

6. He was in Sesame Street

In 2012, Juanes was a guest on "Sesame Street" for Hispanic Heritage month... and he managed to teach Elmo some Spanish.

7. He grew up listening to tango ... and learned to love Metallica

His music influences are not limited to Latino sounds. Whereas he grew up listening to Tango legend Carlos Gardel, he is "obsessed" with heavy-metal gods "Metallica," whom he credits for his interest in the music industry.

8. He had long hair

He did love heavy-metal so much, he did in fact grow his hair and start a band. Juanes was the founder, leader, composer and guitarist for Ekhymosis, a band he formed in 1987 with some friends. They produced five albums until Juanes decided to go solo in 1999 ... and chop his locks.

9. He went to college ... to be a designer

Before becoming a world famous musician, Juanes went to college like the rest of us. But if you think you can guess what he majored in, think twice: He graduated from Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana in Medellin in 2000 with a degree in Industrial Design.

10.He is loved the world over

Time magazine named Juanes one of "100 Most Influential People In The World" in 2005. The LA Times declared him "the single most important figure on the Latin music scene." And in 2006, he was named a Knight by France's Order of Arts and Letters. It's official: everybody loves Juanes.
