Bon Jovi Daughter Overdose: Singer Opens Up About Stephanie’s Heroin Addiction

Jon Bon Jovi has broken his silence about his daughter Stephanie's recent drug overdose.

The singer spoke with Fox 11's Courtney Friel about the dark scene in his family life. "What I do for a living seems glitzy and glamorous but if you don't take it too seriously it's a great way to make a living. And then life goes on. Things happen."

19-year-old Stephanie Bongiovi was found in her dorm in Hamilton College on November 14 last year in an "unresponsive" state. Police officers said she had overdosed in heroine, an ambulance was sent to the scene and paramedics found her alive. Police found a small quantity of heroin in her room, along with marijuana and other drugs.

She was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Charges were later dropped, according to a New York law that prohibits prosecution of people who experience a drug overdose, as well as the people who help them seek medical care.

"It was the worst phone call ever," Bon Jovi revealed to Katie Couric on Thursday.

He admitted he was unaware of his daughter's problem with drugs, but that she was doing much better. "I appreciate everyone's thoughts and prayers," he added.

It was denied that Stephanie was in rehab, but Bon Jovi reportedly said that she wouldn't be coming back to Hamilton until she was fully recovered.

Stephanie is the oldest child of Jon Bon Jovi and wife Dorothea Hurley, and the only girl.
