Dzhokhar Tsarnaev has been communicating with investigators but is still in serious condition after maintaining a gunshot wound to the throat. Authorities are questioning the surviving Boston bombing suspect, Dzhokhar, and he is writing down answers about motives and connections.
U.S. officials have revealed that the Tsarneav brother's where motivated by radical Islam however it seems they acted alone and are not in connection with any Muslim terrorist group.
While scrawling notes to investigators, Dzhokhar has revealed that his now deceased older brother, Tamerlan, planned the Boston Marathon bombings in order to "defend Islam from attack." CNN reports that 19-year-ols Dzhokhar has indicated his 26-year-old brother; Tamerlan was the leader in the terrorist attack on US soil.
Last night US officials revealed that new evidence gained during the interrogation of Dzhokhar has revealed that the two Tsarneav brothers most likely worked independently, despite reports that the pair was involved with a 12-man terror group.
The college student was charged with using and conspiring to use a weapon of mass destruction. He is the only surviving suspect indicated in detonating shrapnel-packed pressure cooker bombs in crowds of civilians at the Boston Marathon. These pressure cooker bombs killed 3 people and injured hundreds.
His older brother also a suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings died Friday after his brother ran him over with a SUV following a chaotic firefight with police.
Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is reportedly unable to speak because of a gunshot wound to the throat received most likely during the firefight. He is currently being treated at Boston's Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where a special team of FBI counter-terrorism agents are interrogating him at his bedside.
While his health is still considered to be a serious condition, a U.S. Magistrate Judge Marianne Bowler described Dzhokhar as "alert, mentally competent and lucid" at hospital court hearing.
A probable cause hearing, where prosecutors will spell out the basics of their case, is set for May 30.
