When Chicago Cubs pitcher Travis Wood drove a fifth-inning pitch just over the left field bleachers in a game against the New York Mets at Wrigley Field, a man in the top row of the stands accidentally spilled some of his beer on his wife and got doused in return. The man told MLB.com after the game that he was just trying to protect "[his] lovely wife Ellen" from Wood's home run ball; laughing, his wife told the website that she "just got livid" and threw her cup of beer in her husband's face. Watch the video which captures the Sunday afternoon incident below.

The beer-dousing has since gone viral. The couple didn't realize the act had been caught on camera until friends began to send text messages commenting to them about it and saying they were on television.

"I just got livid," the woman told MLB.com. "And took my beer and splooshed it in his face. I figured if I'm wet, he might as well be wet too." She added, "I think I got my payback. I think we're good." Laughing, the couple high-fived and said they would put the incident behind them.

The piece of revenge was a pricey one -- Wrigley charges the sixth-highest price in Major League Baseball for draft beers, at $7.25 a pop, according to Business Insider.

The Mets beat the Cubs 4-3 on the strength of an eighth-inning homer from leadoff Daniel Murphy. It was the Mets' first series win at Wrigley Field since 2007.
