Microsoft has confirmed and outlined it details of its plans for pre-owned games played on the new Xbox One.
So here is how it works: first when you purchase a game you will be given a unique code linked to Xbox Live. The code can only be used once and is verified online. Other users wanting to play the game will then have to buy the right to the play the game, which cost full price of the game.
The code "sits on your hard drive and you have permission to play that game as long as you'd like," Microsoft corporate vice president Phil Harrison told reports.

"The bits that are on that disc, you can give it to your friend and they can install it on an Xbox One," he said. "They would then have to purchase the right to play that game through Xbox Live."
Meaning you are ok to play any game under your account on Xbox Live but if you share to another friends account that friend must buy the rights to play and ends up paying full retail price for the game.
This move has definitely gotten some backlash from Xbox fans and fans are sounding off.
"This is deplorable...I seriously don't get Microsoft. Do they believe that they're consumer base are a bunch of primitive thinking obtuse morons or something? This is the most despicable thing I've ever heard," said Chris Jones on The Telegraph website.
"I've played their consoles for over a decade, I've supported the games Microsoft Game Studios have published and developed and I've supported a plethora of things they've done in past (like charge people for online gaming)...but this is disgraceful...it's absolute greed at it's very core." Said Jones. "I'm not sure how much truth there is to the "not backwards compatible" issues...but even if those are false...this is still remarkably f**ked up. Let's just hope that this isn't a trend in all consoles because next gen gaming will suffer if it is."
"Let's assume it's a new game, so the answer is yes, it will be the same price," Harrison said.
Director of Programming at Xbox Live, Larry Hyrb issued a statement on his Blog, Major Nelson.
"We have only confirmed that we designed Xbox One to enable our customers to trade in and resell games at retail.
"Beyond that, we have not confirmed any specific scenarios.
"Another piece of clarification around playing games at a friend's house - should you choose to play your game at your friend's house, there is no fee to play that game while you are signed in to your profile."
"If I have to pay a fee for a used game, I'm not getting the system and will just pirate the games for my computer," wrote Justin Flontek on Kotaku's website.
Full details are have not been released on the pre-owned game system but what has been released is not making gamers happy. If Sony is smart and plays their cards right this could be the one-up they need to get ahead of Microsoft and the Xbox One.
