Square Enix has released some character artwork from the upcoming "Kingdom Hearts 3" game which was announced alongside "Final Fantasy XV" at this year's E3 gaming expo.

"Kingdom Hearts 3" is described as "the next core sequel" and will be more mature than the previous installments of the game.

The game will use next generation technologies for an "action-packed" sequel featuring your favorite's characters from Mickey, Goofy, and Donald.

Since the announcement of the game a couple of weeks ago the news has been sparse. Outside of confirmation that combat in "Kingdom Hearts 3" will be similar to that the previous titles in the franchise, relatively little is known about upcoming title. A few translated Famitsu scans teased the possibility of Sora, Riku and Kaira fighting alongside one another.

And as it turns out the dev team for "Kingdom Hearts 3" hasn't even finished deciding which world will be included in the final game. Nomura has said that the team is only going to include worlds that play a role in the game's story.

"Kingdom Hearts 3" director is hopeful that there will be more information to share at this year's Tokyo Game show in September or D23 Expo in August.

Square Enix said it was "extremely, extremely happy" to announce Kingdom Hearts 3 at E3, and confirmed that it would be available on Xbox One in all regions, including Japan.

The game will be available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and the release date is expected for early 2014.
