"Glee" star Lea Michele has released a brief statement following the sudden and tragic death of her on and off screen boyfriend, Cory Monteith. The "Glee" co-stars had been dating for about 2 years when his body was found in his Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel room in Vancouver, Canada on Saturday.

A representative for Michele made a brief comment to People magazine, stating "We ask that everyone kindly respect Lea's privacy during this devastating time." Monteith was vacationing with friends in Vancouver, while Michele was believed to be at home in Los Angeles for work.

And while Michele has yet to address the press during this tragic time, a source told HollywoldLife.com that the 26-year-old actress is "absolutely hysterical and completely inconsolable. The anonymous source also claimed "she is devastated beyond belief."

No cause of death for Monteith has yet to be revealed. Acting Vancouver Police Chief Doug LePard said that all indications are that there was no foul play. Surveillance video shows Monteith returning to his room in the early hours of Saturday morning. Medical examiners are set to conduct an autopsy on Monday; in addition the results are expected to be revealed early this week.

And while the authorities refuse to say if drugs or substance abuse are involved, that seems to be the most likely cause of the 31-year-old star's untimely death. Monteith spent time in rehab this year, after voluntarily checking into a drug addiction treatment facility in late March. However, the actor was said to have been "happy and healthy" in recent months.
