With 56 percent of American adults, according to PEW, being smartphone owners, it seems only fitting that all aspects of our life have made their way to our cell phones. Food, social media, communication and other daily life activities have all transitioned seamlessly into the smartphone world and so has fashion.

While it may seem counterintuitive for something as hands-on as fashion to have a part in the digital world, there are many apps available on the market that are must-haves for everyone, whether you're a budding fashionista or a veteran sartorial guru. We've tried, tested and given our stamp of approval on nine of -- what we believe to be -- the best fashion apps that everyone should have on their phones.

1. Stylebook, $3.99: Stylebook is an asset for digitally organizing the clothing, shoes and accessories that you already have. It lets you take pictures of what you own and to organize it by category. Best part: You can build your outfit with the images you have. Other features the app has includes making packing lists, building custom collages, creating magazine-esque layouts and tracking your wardrobe history.

2. SpeakChic, $1.99: Ever wondered how you are really supposed to pronounce high-end labels like Yves Saint Laurent and Christian Louboutin? Wonder no more, as SpeakChic has you covered. The app has compiled the pronunciations of all the high-end, medium-end and even some low-end brands to make sure you never make a faux pas in public by saying a label incorrectly. The app will set you back $1.99, but that's a small price to pay for dodging humiliation.

3. Fashion Terms, $0.99: In other educational fashion app updates, Fashion Terms is also crucial for any fashionista. While this app won't teach you how to pronounce fancy brands, it will provide you with a dictionary of fashion terminology with illustrations. So if you can't tell bolero apart from brocade or Mary Janes from D'Orsay, then this app will be your savior. The dictionary is comprehensive, to say the least, and incredibly informative.

4. Chictopia and Cloth, Free: Runway and celebrity fashion is often hard to translate in the real world so if you're looking for some real-life inspiration, these apps are the way to go. Both apps allow users to post selfies of their favorite styles and also allows you to browse different looks.

5. Chicfeed, Free: If you rummage the Internet for sartorial inspiration and are an avid follower of fashion bloggers, then this app can help you organize all your favorite content sites in one spot. You can get your inspiration and fashion eye candy from one simple app. This time saving app will help you follow all the sites you want to follow and save all the looks you want to save.

6. Pinterest, Free: Are you even surprised? Pinterest has many functions but one important one is fashion. Browse through the pins of the site's millions of users to seek inspiration from all different kinds of people and a wide array of looks. If you're unfamiliar with the website, then here's what you need to know: This site works as a digital inspiration board where users can create boards and pin images to them. Each 'pin' links back to the original content (usually) so you can reference it at your convenience.

7. Trendabl, Free: This app creates a fashion community by allowing the users to upload pictures of fashion items and accessories from their smartphone. They can add relevant information (i.e. price, store, color, brand) and users can share the pictures with their friends via social media platforms. The app also has a social media aspect that allows you to "follow" your friends, celebrities, magazines, bloggers and websites.

8. Shopstyle, Free: Want something super specific and can't quite find it? This is the app for you. It boasts a huge database of products from couture to street fashion and you simply input any and every requirement you have (size, cut, material, shade) and--voila!--it finds you what is available. This app is essentially like having a personal shopper without paying for it.

9. Pop of Color from Shop BAZAAR, Free: This color app from Harper's BAZAAR is truly a unique one, as it allows a user to use their iPhone to save any color or shade that appeals to them. Like the color of text on your takeout box? Simply use your phone to scan it and the app will offer items in a similar shade.
