Levi spin-off confirmed! "Attack on Titan" animators celebrate announcement with awesome art work! たかはし / Twitter

Rumors around "Attack on Titan" Season 2 have been agonizing. Initial rumors suggested that the epic anime would return in July 2015. Obviously, we now know that the report was a big fat hoax. As far as we know, the "Attack on Titan" Season 2 release date will not be until at least August 2015.

Just because we have some ways to go before "Attack on Titan" returns, that doesn't mean that we will have to go for another year without any good anime. We are happy to report that "Attack on Titan: No Regrets, Birth of Levi" is go! According to Scott Green of Crunchyroll, the rumored "Attack on Titan" spin-off anime has been confirmed for the manga's Volume 15 and 16 issues. The mangas will be released on Dec. 9, and April 2015, respectively. The new "Attack on Titan: No Regrets, Birth of Levi" release date is expected to coincide with the manga's launch.

As it's association with "Attack on Titan" Volume 15 and 16 manga issues suggest, "No Regrets: Birth of Levi" is a separate short story arc. According to initial reports, the new "Attack on Titan: No Regrets: Birth of Levi" OVA will be a prequel story of the main "Attack on Titan" anime, and will focus around Levi instead of Eren and Mikasa.

Beyond the "Attack on Titan" Levi prequel, two epic "Attack on Titan" live-action movies are in the work as well. The first "Attack on Titan" movie release date is summer 2015 and sources have already confirmed that there will definitely be a sequel. The cast selected for the "Attack on Titan" movie include Haruma Miura (Gokusen), Hiroki Hasegawa (the upcoming live-action Jellyfish Princess, Why Don't You Play in Hell), Kiko Mizuhara (Norwegian Wood, Helter Skelter), Kanata Hongō (Prince of Tennis, Nana 2), Takahiro Miura (live-action Space Battleship Yamato), Nanami Sakuraba (Twin Spica), Satoru Matsuo (Thermae Romae), Satomi Ishihara (No Longer Human, Sadako 3D), Pierre Taki (Linda Linda Linda), Jun Kunimura (Audition, Kill Bill), Shu Watanabe (Kamen Rider OOO), Ayame Misaki (Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters), and Rina Takeda (High Kick Girl).
