Brett Favre's jersey is said to be retired by the Green Bay Packers before the 2016 NFL season. Now that Favre and the Green Bay Packer's orginization have reconciled, his iconic No. 4 Jersey will likely be retired before 2016. It was actually the current quarterback of the Green Bay Packers, Aaron Rodgers who argued back in May that the No. 4 jersey should be taken out of Packers rotation.

In the wake of the fallout between Favre and his old football team, Packers President and CEO Mark Murphy told reporters recently he wanted Brett Favre "back in the family."

And it seems that Murphy is serious about his reconciliation with Favre. On Saturday the teams CEO wrote a statement on the Packers official website. Murphy wrote that he feels Favre "deserves to have his number retired for what he accomplished and meant to the Packers during his time here."

Murphy further explains his decision to call for the Brett Favre jersey retirement, "I thought Aaron Rodgers and Brett jointly presenting the Comeback Player of the Year Award at the NFL Honors program was a great first step. It is really just a question of timing in terms of retiring his jersey. The timing has to be right for both Brett and the organization. Brett will be a first ballot Hall of Famer in 2016, and we would like to retire his number prior to his induction."

With the Green Bay Packers preparing the festivities for a new experience, "Brett Day" at Lambeau field, it seems reasonable that the organization is now working on retiring his No. 4 jersey.

After, Favre's unfavorable decision to join the Minnesota Vikings, many die-hard Green Bay fans turned on their quarterback. Only recently Favre and Packers management began to speak with one another after a few years of strained relationships.
