Decomposed human remains in two bags were discovered near the Pacific beach resort town of Zihuatanejo and now Mexican authorities have announced that the remains have been identified after genetic testing. The body is of a New York man, who went missing whilst biking down to Brazil for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. According to a spokesman for the Guerrero state prosecutors office, DNA tests have confirmed that the remains are of 32-year-old former stock trader Harry Devert.

According to Devert's website, he had spent the past five years traveling around the world and he intended to take his motorcycle across Central America while biking to Brazil from Mexico. The last individual the victim communicated with was his girlfriend, Sarah Ashley Schiear, on Jan. 25. According to the Help Find Harry Facebook page created by his friends, Devert was then traveling to Zihuatanejo under the supervision of military troops to get out of a dangerous region and had texted his girlfriend that he was "an area too dangerous for [him] to be." Devert was in a rural part of Mexico that is riddled with drug gangs.

Here are five fast facts about the dismembered body:

1. According to the Guerrero office of public security, authorities discovered Devert's green Kawasaki motorcycle along a rode in the township of Union Isidoro Montes de Oca.

2. Authorities revealed in their statement that "10 packages of what appeared to be narcotics (marijuana and cocaine)" were found near the abandoned motorcycle and body.

3. A DNA sample provided by Devert's mother was compared with bone scrapings from the decomposing remains to confirm the identity. "This is horrible," said Darren Del Sardo, an attorney for Devert's mother, to CNN. "The major component now is to try to find out who is responsible for this and hope that the Mexican authorities bring them to justice as soon as possible."

4. Devert's last message to his girlfriend was send on messaging app WhatsApp. "Just got an hour and a half long escort out of some area it was too dangerous for me to be," the message said. "Stopping for lunch and ... voila Internet. ... Gonna get back on the road soon. Apparently there's another military escort waiting for me in some other town... I'm running way late because of the crazy military stuff...hopefully get a chance to talk to you tonight when I (hopefully) finally arrive."

5. The U.S. Embassy is working to get more information. In a statement, a spokesman said: "We are aware of the news reports that indicate a motorcycle and human remains were discovered in the state of Guerrero near the town of Lagunillas and are working closely with the authorities to get more information."
