'Doctor Who' season 9 Spoilers. BBC

The upcoming ninth season of the hit British sci-fi series "Doctor Who" began filming just last month and is slated for a late 2015 air date. The series will be the ninth season of the programs revival in 2005 and this will be the 35th season overall. Although we don't have an exact release date for the popular series we do know a few things. Executive Producer Steven Moffat revealed that Michelle Gomez would return to season nine and reprise her role as Missy a.k.a.. The Master.

"Everybody hide - Michelle Gomez as Missy was an instant hit last year, so she's straight back to plague the Doctor and Clara in the series opener," Moffat said to the BBC. "But what brings her back into their lives is the last thing they'd expect."

Gomez shared her excitement with returning as Missy having said, "Things have been a little beige since I left Missy behind, so I'm delighted to be putting my lippie back on. I'm positively dying to see The Doctor again!" We can't wait to see her return to the role but until then check out these 8 juicy details about season nine of "Doctor Who."

1. The ninth season will see the return of Peter Capaldi as the Doctor and also returning is Jenna Coleman as his companion Clara Oswald.

2. Season 9 debuts with a two-part premiere. "The Magician's Apprentice" and "The Witch's Familiar" were written by Moffat and directed by Hettie MacDonald, who is credited for directing the insanely popular and Hugo award-winning episode titled "Blink."

3. In January 2015, it was announced that actor Paul Kaye had a guest role in the first production block. It was later announced that other guest actors featuring in the first block include Arsher Ali, Morven Christie, Neil Fingleton, Colin McFarlane and Steven Robertson.

4. Even more guest stars have been revealed Jemma Redgrave will be returning in the opening two-partner of the ninth series, guest-starring as Kate Lethbridge-Stewart. Kelly Hunter was also confirmed for the same episodes, alongside Jaye Griffiths and Clare Higgins. Hunter previously appeared as the Shadow Architect for the Shadow Proclamation in "The Stolen Earth," while Higgins appeared in "The Night of the Doctor" as Ohila, High Priestess of the Sisterhood of Karn.

Other confirmed guests include India Ria Amarteifio, Dasharn Anderson, Harki Bhambra, Daniel Hoffmann-Gill, Aaron Neil, Demi Papaminas, Joey Price and Jami Reid-Quarrell.

5. Recent set photos has revealed that Coal Hill will return to season nine of "Doctor Who" as a location. The pics also revealed some spoilers about the two-part premiere. "Two Coal Hill children are looking at something in the sky, terrified," Ryan Farrell, a bystander, tweeted, later stating that the invisible object will likely be a stationary plane. "Clara's passing on her bike and isn't phased by it."

6. Moffat is eager to surprise fans in season nine with a major event. Before season eight began, Moffat promised a cliffhanger for the series nine finale and teased in DWM 475, "I've figured out the cliffhanger to the penultimate episode of series 9. And it's a whopper. Ohh, I don’t think you'll see this coming!"

7. Former showrunner Russell T. Davies will not return for the 10th anniversary. The BBC asked the former showrunner and head writer to return, along with Steven Moffat who asks Davies every year. He replied with a polite "thanks but no thanks." A BBC source says that plans for the revival anniversary were still to be decided, despite Davies' reluctance to return.

8. Wait... Davies May Return, Despite the comments made to Radio Times, an interview with BBC Radio 2 a week later, Davies revealed he would love to write more "Doctor Who," specifically a movie.
