Enrique Iglesias is facing misdemeanor charges of obstruction and driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop in Miami-Dade County last month, Florida Highway Patrol officials said.

According to the FHP, on May 6, the Spanish singer was pulled over in a Cadillac Escalade after a trooper spotted the car driving north on the I95 in the closed express lanes.

Authorities who witnessed the happenings reported that as the car was being pulled over, Iglesias jumped from the driver’s seat into the back to switch places with the guy in the passenger’s seat. It was FHP Lt. Julio Pajon who identified the singer as the driver, “It was Mr. Iglesias that was the initial driver, yes."

Iglesias and Abel Tabuyo, the person in the passenger's seat, were handcuffed and taken to the station, where they had to signing notices to appear in court. Tabuyo, who was also charged with obstruction without violence, said he didn’t know why he switched seats with Iglesias according to the report. The two of them pleaded not guilty and will appear in court on July 10.
