Either you yourself or someone you know uses the popular Facebook social media website. Facebook was founded on February 4, 2004, by Mark Zuckerberg with his college roommates and fellow Harvard University students Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes.

FB makes connecting with old friends so much easier. Users can create a personal profile and connect with friends from childhood, high school, college and work. You can share what's new in your life and talk to old friends and even play games with them. But we bet you didn't know these top tips and tricks:

  1. Backup Post & Photos - Did you know you can get a backup of all of your Facebook posts and photos? Go to your settings page - Select the General tab - then select the "Download a copy of your Facebook data" link and enter your password and confirm. Facebook will email you a zip of YOUR content!
  2. Turn off group email notifications - You can turn off email notifications from groups by going to your settings. Select the down arrow in the top right - Settings - Notifications from left sidebar - Edit next to Group Activity. You then can go through all of your groups and set the notifications to off. This is especially helpful if you are part of multiple groups or a couple active groups
  3. Facebook Savings - There is a bookmark type setting for your FB Timeline! It's called "Saving" and acts like a bookmark of Facebook posts, videos, images and whatever else you like that will allow you to view later. It also includes reminders. Find out how to utilize this feature in the Facebook Help Center.
  4. Control who shares your post and photos - Use the audience selector to adjust who you share posts with so you can make sure the people you intend can share your photos and statuses. The audience selector tool is under the "What's on your mind" box and features a drop down menu to let you pick who see's and shares your post.
  5. Change to business page - You can change your personal account to an actual Facebook page with followers instead of friends. Go to Profile to Business Page Migration > Click to choose a category for your Page > Select a more specific category from the dropdown menu and fill out the required information > Click Get Started and follow the on-screen instructions.
  6. Stop auto play videos - There is an option to stop auto play on the desktop and the mobile app. From your desktop select the down arrow in the top right - Settings - Video from the bottom left side menu and then "Auto Play Off." To find out how to disable auto video play on your mobile device click here!
  7. Most Recent vs. Top Stories - You can change what you see on your news feed. By selecting the down arrow next to "News Feed" on top left of your news feed you have the option to view either "Most Recent" or "Top Stories."
  8. Log out remotely - If you forget to log out of Facebook at the office or at a friend's house, don't worry. From the down arrow on the top right click and choose "Settings" then choose "Security" tab. Here, you can choose to be notified via SMS or email if a new computer or mobile device logs into your account. You can also log out remotely by clicking edit next to "Where You're Logged In." This will show you where your account is logged in and you can choose "end activity" to log out right away.
  9. App Passwords - For those of us who use Facebook over different wireless connections there is a way to make it less risky. You will be able to protect your account and password by using FB's one-time password. Go to your Security Settings > In the App Passwords section, click Edit > Click Generate app passwords and follow the instructions.
