"Final Fantasy" fans will have to wait a bit longer for the next installment, "Final Fantasy XV," as the titles lead programmer Kentaro Yasui has decided to part with the project. It has been reported that Yasui has not only resigned from the project but perhaps Square Enix all together.

While Square Enix has promised fans that the company would be more open and forthcoming with information during the games development, it has yet to release a statement about Kentaro Yasui's departure. The news originally came from Nova Crystallis, a blog devoted to all things "Final Fantasy." The website reports that Yasui's name appeared on the staff list for a mobile game from a different company, which suggest that he is no longer with Square Enix.

Kentaro was involved with popular Square Enix titles such as "Final Fantasy VII" and the first two "Kingdom Hearts" games. Now with Yasui gone it is uncertain how "Final Fantasy XV" will fair.

"Final Fantasy XV" is one of Square Enix's most anticipated titles but the game has had an uneasy development period. FFXV was originally scheduled for the PS3 which was first titled "Final Fantasy XIII Versus," however it was repackaged and announced for next-generation consoles as "Final Fantasy XV" at E3 2013.
