Gabriel García Márquez' death has clearly been the center of social media across latin America. But not everyone has been happy with certain individuals mourning the famed Colombian author's death. Mexico's President, Enrique Peña Nieto, took to Twitter to express his lament: In the name of Mexico, I express my sorrow for the passing of one of the greatest authors of our times: Gabriel García Márquez." Twitter has since been in outrage, claiming EPN hasn't even read ONE of Márquez' books.

Enrique Peña Nieto has often been mocked for his lack of literary knowledge: during his election campaign, the then presidential candidate was asked to name 3 books that had influenced his career and could only name The Bible. This has regularly been taken as a sign for his literary ignorance. Twitter has been all abuzz angrily reacting to his claim of mourning Gabriel García Márquez. They've ranged from the crazy ("You killed him! Murderer!") to the hilarious: "Don't lie, you can't even read."

Enrique Peña Nieto's Twitter account has gone wild since he posted his lamentation. "Shut up!" said one user with an image of García Márquez giving the finger. "You can't even read, so stop bullsh**ing," said another. "You couldn't even read the prologue to one of his books. Seriously Quique, don't even try," wrote someone else. "And which are your favorite three books of #Gabo Mr. Peña Niet?" asked someone. Enrique Peña Nieto himself hasn't fought back.
