Gaby Rivero Is Fat Shamed
Mexican actress, Gaby Rivero, is fat shamed and lashes back on reporter that called her out on her weight. Televisa

Gaby Rivero is a beloved actress by many as we remember her endearing role as Ximena on "Carrusel." In that telenovela, Rivero played a loving and caring teacher of a class full of eccentric students. That is the image that we hold in our minds and that's why she has shocked us after a recent statement she made where she referred to Oprah as "black and fat." This whole situation started after Mexican reporter Alex Kaffie called out Rivero on her apparent overweight on his new entertainment show Pasillo TV. Word got back to Rivero and she lashed out on the host over Twitter, "the gastronamy certainly smiles at you too my dear friend."

Gaby later added on Twitter, "Thank God that life smiles at me in every aspect. Reflection of the day: Envy is one of the 7 capital sins." During the premiere of "¿Qué le dijiste a Dios?," "Formula Espectacular" reporter Gabriel Cuevas asked the "Lo Que La Vida Me Robó" actress to weigh in on the issue. "It makes me uncomfortable that they just talk to sell," she said. "I like when they critique to better yourself, but they don't know if you have hormonal imbalance, thyroid issues... You might be about to turn 50 and they still want to see you like when you were 25, it is not possible. People change and what is most important is that they like you for who you are. Why does everyone have to look perfect?"

What really put a target on herself and caused controversy was the following statement: "The richest woman in the world is black and fat and her name is Oprah Winfrey." The unfortunate comment was made by Rivero to attack those who criticized her weight issues, saying that being overweight is not an impediment to reach your goals and be succesful. What is causing an issue is that she mentioned Oprah was black, which is a completely irrelevant point. The remark has been deemed racist in social media and uncalled for. What do you think of Gaby Rivero's defense?
