Gerardo Ortiz is still under investigation, Mexican authorities revealed on Thursday.

According to Milenio.com, the Mexican singer failed to be present during a second hearing scheduled specifically to present his testimony before the law and clear his name in the “Fuiste Mía” video controversy.

“He didn’t show up,” Jalisco’s district attorney Eduardo Almaguer told the publication. “As you may know, the District Attorney’s Office now has the possibility to issue an arrest warrant or a court order demanding mandatory assistance, the authorities in charge are already working on this matter.”

Sources report Ortiz was supposed to be present at the District Attorney’s Office on Tuesday for the recording of his deposition, after police reports indicated a possible connection between the video’s production company, which he hired to film the clip, and local drug lord Daniel Quintero Riestra or José Antonio Riestra Ruvalcaba, better known as “El Danny Quintero.”

In an interview aired on Telemundo’s “Al Rojo Vivo” on April 28, the 26-year-old performer disclosed details of his latest meeting with the authorities and his lawyers and mentioned he was still being treated as a witness, not like a criminal.

“Until this moment, there is only one charge against me which is endorsement of criminal acts,” Ortiz told Jessica Carrillo. “That is something I wanted to clarify. The press has distorted the facts too much.”

Back in April, Almaguer was very specific when he was asked what Ortiz was being investigated for.

“What are we investigating?” he said. “The wrongdoing on behalf of public servers, possible money laundering, peculation, abusing authority, the participation of particular entities in illegal activities, and the origin of the budget to make this video happen, and therefore, the singer’s activities as well.”

El Informador mentions Ortiz’s lawyers have appealed the order, but it looks like extreme measures will be taken by the authorities if the singer fails to deliver his testimony a third time.
