Gustavo Cerati, Soda Stereo’s frontman, has been in a coma for four years after he suffered a stroke on May 15, 2010. Apparently his health condition has not improved, but his mother Lilian Clark still has faith that at any moment he will come out of the coma. “He has been bed ridden for four years, but he is doing very well. If Gustavo was suffering, he would be intolerable, but in reality he is like sleeping. We haven’t seen him get worse. Do you know what he is learning about this? That fame is a made up story. When it is your turn, it doesn’t matter if you are famous or not. You just have to take it as it comes, lower your heads and ask God,” Clark said in a telephone interview.
According to Cerati's medical team "Mr. Cerati is still hospitalized but in stable condition, with no major complications, maintaining a good state of nutrition. Neurologically he has not had any significant changes and and remains with assistance from a mechanic ventilator."
"We would like to thanks the nurses, doctors, and health professionals that day after day watch over Gustavo, responding to all of his needs. He is always accompanied by family and close friends. We want to thank you once more for the outpouring of love from the fans, that from different parts of the country and many other countries of the world , show us their love, wish us nothing but the best and renew our hopes. In name of Gustavo THANKS to everyone," his family released in a statement.
