Paul Walker
Movies that put the weight on one actor alone are tough to come by but Paul Walker shines in 'Hours.' Reuters

Though his acting career was cut short by a horrific car crash that ultimately led to his passing, Paul Walker will be remembered for his popular roles in the 'Fast and Furious' series along with many other likeable films. Fans of the big screen will remember Walker's role in 'Varsity Blues,' where he starred alongside 'Dawson's Creek' standout James Van Der Beek. Taking on the duties of star quarterback Lance Harbor for a Texas high school football team, Walker enjoyed the on-screen success of a popular high school football star before injury derails any chances of playing in college or in the professional ranks.

Walker would also move into successful roles in 'The Skulls,' 'She's All That,' and 'Into the Blue' but his most successful and most notable professional accomplishments came in the uber-popular 'Fast and Furious' series. The street racing-based movies have certainly grown amongst movie lovers and car fanatics and while Walker displayed his ability to entertain audiences, his role in Eric Heisserer's 'Hours' might just be the finest acting job of his fruitful yet short career. Set right in the heart of the horrific Hurricane Katrina storm of 2005, 'Hours' is a movie that will no doubt touch each person watching while giving a closer look at how talented Paul Walker truly was.

Taking on the role of Nolan Hayes - a man who is expecting the birth of a newborn daughter with his wife - Walker is the sole focus of the film. Rushed to the hospital with wife Abby (Genesis Rodriguez) due to premature labor, the two get to their destination just minutes before the storm's onslaught begins. The good news for Nolan is that his daughter is born but the bad news is that Abby died during childbirth. Forced to process this horrific information all on his own, Walker's solo role is one people can relate to since we've all had to deal with traumatic moments in our lives.

With his wife's passing and daughter hooked up to a respirator, Nolan must continue to move forward as his lone goal is now to keep his daughter alive while Hurricane Katrina rips apart streets and property outside the hospital. Once the levees break and the storm begins its destruction, Nolan is now tasked with the job of keeping his daughter on the respirator until her lungs can function on their own. Once the hospital is evacuated and the power in the hospital goes out, Walker's character - who is assured that generators and batteries will remain functioning - must do anything in his power to keep his newborn breathing.

There aren't too many movies that focus on one actor alone for the majority of the film but Eric Heisserer's 'Hours' certainly does. Walker gives a great performance due to his ability to show compassion, love, anger and sadness all in a realistic manner. Most people won't ever know what it's like to keep a loved one alive in a hospital with chaos taking place around them but many understand that the love of another can drive you to do anything, and that is exactly what Walker displays in this movie, even with a mediocre supporting cast.

Set to release on Friday, December 13, get to your local theatre to enjoy Paul Walker in 'Hours,' one of the late actors finest performances.
