Order has been restored on the Mexican National Soccer team. Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez and a handful of other international based soccer stars have ben asked by Mexico manager, Miguel Herrera, to rejoin El Tri. The announcement came on Monday following two subpar friendlies by Mexico. Chicharito and his Mexican teammates will rejoin the team for two upcoming friendlies starting in October.

Herrera told the media on Monday that Chicharito and other stars were always in the long term plans of El Tri, but that he wanted to give them time to acclimate with their new clubs over in Europe. In all, five European based players were added, but there were some notable absences from the squad as well.

In addition to Chicharito, the “Fortress of Fortaleza,” and current Malaga goalkeeper, Guillermo Ochoa, Javier Aquino, Hector Herrera and Erick “El Cubo” Torres were all added to the roster. Notable omissions came in the names of Real Sociedad’s Carlos Vela and the dynamic duo of Villarreal brothers, Jonathan and Giovani dos Santos.

Giovani dos Santos is a star for Mexico and his absence is perhaps the most surprising of all Herrera’s moves thus far. However, Dos Santos injured his hamstring last week while playing for Villareal and its possible that coach Herrera just wants to give his star more time to recover from his injury.

For all five returning players, it will be the first international action they have seen since their stunning second round loss to the Netherlands at the World Cup in Brazil. Mexico was winning 1-0 with less than 10 minutes to play in the match before conceding two gut-wrenching goals in the final minutes of play.

Since that heart breaking defeat, Mexico has played two friendlies against Chile and Bolivia and will now at least have some semblance of what their roster will ultimately look like when they take on Honduras on Oct. 9th in Chiapas and Panama on Oct. 12th in Queretaro. Both matches are on home soil for Mexico and should bring large crowds, especially with the addition of the new European based players. Tickets for the first match on October 9th went on sale today with tickets for the match against Panama scheduled to go on sale on Friday.
