Kristhielee Caride, who up until yesterday was the Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2016 titleholder, has been dethroned after receiving the honor about four months ago. The 24-year-old beauty queen was stripped of her crown due to her bad attitude according to Univision. Caride, who had participated in the pageant for a second time, was horrible to a local Puerto Rican outlet during an official event planned by the pageant she represented. She claimed to not like cameras and it was all captured in video, which soon went viral.

Desirée Lowry, director of Miss Universe Puerto Rico, announced that Kristhielee Caride would be stripped of her title and Brenda Azaria Jimenez would be the new representative. "I wanted the Earth to swallow me," Lowry said. "I saw the damage that this girl was doing to herself and to the organization. I didn't understand why she acted that way." The pageant director did say that Caride said it would never happen again, but never apologized for the incident.

However, Kristhielee took to social media moments after she was dethroned to apologize. She said she had been going through some personal issues, but she still assisted the event. "I want to express my sincere apologies to every single one of the fans that have been there for me since the beginning, my team and the Miss Universe Puerto Rico organization," she wrote. "It was never my intention to hurt or damage the image of everyone that helped me to be where I am today. It is of humans to err, it is also courageous to recognize our errors and I want to continue being an example of a real woman with purpose that maintains their head held up high in adverse situations of life."

"Hope my experience serves so other girls and pageant organizers can learn. With dignity I accept giving away my title as ambassador of our island as the organizers and director Desiree Lowry have asked, without agreeing with the decision made, but I will always remember that night of November 12 when I won the title and all the experiences and lovely memories for having been Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2016."
