Latina gymnast Laurie Hernandez stole our hearts with her impressive performance in the 2016 Rio Olympics and now she is tackling another task- "Dancing With The Stars." The 16-year-old star is opening up about the difficulties of participating in the hit show.

According to Hernandez's blog with Us Weekly, the 16-year-old star is excited and a bit nervous about the show. The star who is doing an amazing job with her partner Val Chmerkovisky, admits that she didn't expect for the show to be this difficult.

The duo is one of the show's top contender's with earning the season's first perfect score and delivering countless amazing performances. the star has admitted that she and her partner had a tough performance with their tango routine last week but watching the performance you wouldn't be able to tell.

According to Huffington Post, the star hope dthat her Latino heritage will help her execute a flawless performance. "“I’m a second generation Puerto Rican, so I’m really hoping my heritage can really come through this week,” Hernandez told the camera, before holding herself and saying: “Come on guys, wake up.”

In her blog with the publication, Hernandez shares her feelings about this upcoming weeks performances.

I’m feeling good and I’m excited for this week, because we have a group dance on top of our own dance, so that’ll be fun and stressful at the same time," she writes in her blog. "We haven’t really figured out how we'll rehearse the group number since we’ll continue to travel with my tour, but we had our first group rehearsal right after the show on Monday night."

The 16-year-old gives us a tease of what we can expect from her upcoming performance. The duo is set to perform a 1960s inspired quikstep. While she admits to being frustrated while rehearsing, the duo continues to perform nealry perfect routines.

"Sometimes rehearsal is frustrating because I wish I could get the steps down a little faster even though everyone’s telling me I get the steps down faster than anyone else," she writes."Coming into Dancing With the Stars, I thought it would be a lot easier. I didn’t think it would be just a breeze, I knew it would be difficult, but I wasn’t expecting it to be this hard. It’s really hard to stay patient with myself and realize this is a whole different world than gymnastics."
