The hit television show "Law & Order SVU" is a national favorite, as the New York City squad investigates sexually based crimes, murders, suicides and assaults. While the show is purely fictional, art is know imitating life. It is being reported that an actress from the show has been found dead.

According to Huffington Post, actress Lisa Lynn Masters has been found dead. The actress who has been out of the Hollywood spotlight for a bit, was found lifeless in a Peru hotel.

The 52-year-old actress was discovered by employees at the Nuevo Mundo hotel Tuesday. Authorities share that the actress was found hanging by the neck with her shirt.

The site reports that authorities revealed that the actress had anti-depression medication in her hotel room. The actres was in Peru on a modeling assignment.

USA Today reports that the family and loved ones of Masters would like for the public to remember the star for her career, not how she passed away.

"As to her husband and family's wishes, we hope that the industry can mourn her death without details. In these darkening days, we hope those who have had the pleasure of knowing her will see how brightly she shined and will find that light within themselves and continue to share it with others — just as she would have," agent Christopher Silveri shares.

A GoFundMe page has been set up for the late starlet on behalf of her friends and family to help with expenses. The page has already received donations of $35,000.

Born in Omaha, Nebraska, Masters grew up in North Carolina where she started her blossoming carer as a news reporter. The actress later moved to Brooklyn, New York and attended Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.

Masters landed roles in the hit show "Law & Order SVU," "Ugly Betty," "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt," and "Gossip Girl."
