Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán successfully escaped from the maximum security prison in Almoloya on Saturday night. The Secretary of the Mexican Secretariat of the Interior, Miguel Ángel Osorio Chong, addressed the happenings in front of the media on Monday night. During his speech, he stated that “El Chapo” relied on two blind spots in the surveillance cameras for his escape.

Authorities reported that the leader of the Sinaloa Drug Cartel came up with a strategy that managed to evade more than 750 cameras, 26 security filters, and a preventive bracelet that according to Osorio Chong, he had to wear at all times.

The Secretary suggested that “the fugitive must have counted with the complicity of the personnel,” he also added that Guzmán “needed the ground plan” to escape. Also present at the event was Arely Gómez, Attorney General of Mexico, who announced that as of now, there is a 4 million dollar reward (60 millones de pesos) for anyone who has any information that leads to “El Chapo” Guzmán’s capture.

A recent picture of the drug kingpin that has been going around since Monday night, shows him with a shaved head and face, and without his trademark mustache, which he had when authorities captured him last year.
