Michelle Rodriguez has bashed her own kind and in the worst way. The “Furious 7” actress sparked controversy by stating minorities are stealing “white” superhero roles. Unfortunately for her she forgot no one steals anything in the acting business, you have to get cast. With that being said, she is not happy that Hollywood will cast minority actors in superhero roles that were originally played by white actors. It all started when paparazzi asked the actress about a rumor that she'd been considered to play the Green Lantern. Rodriguez gave a very blunt response

“That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard,” she said. Rodriguez then added, “I think it's so stupid… because of this whole, like, ‘minorities in Hollywood’ thing it's so stupid, it's, like, stop stealing all the white people's superheroes. Make up your own, you know what I'm saying? What's up with that?”

While some minorities will play “white superhero” roles, I wonder is what’s wrong with that. I guess superheroes should only be portrayed by actors of the same race as the original characters? The fact that she sees something wrong with minorities playing superhero roles is mind boggling because she is a Latina. I guess she feels comfortable with the limits of roles that minorities have had throughout the years: Latinas playing maids or African Americans being slaves should be it to Rodriguez. Let's limit what minorities can do in Hollywood.

Then, to rectify the error the best thing she could do was to post a video on Facebook and then say minorities are “lazy.” I believe this whole conversation is about her not agreeing with Hollywood's casting decisions? I think her comment is towards Hollywood, but at the same time mentioning minorities within the context of stealing “white” superhero roles or stating “laziness” should be clarified or addressed in a better way.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Saying that you don't agree with Hollywood giving the opportunity to minorities to play a superhero role because it was originally a “white” created character is one thing; but saying that they are “lazy” and “stealing” roles is bashing your own people. So my question is: Is she upset that African American Michael B. Jordan will play the Human Torch in the upcoming Fantastic Four movie? Or Idris Elba, who is also African-American should not be the future James Bond since Ian Fleming was the original James Bond?
