Monterrey, Mexico – Club America and El Tri star defender Miguel Layun is excited to take the pitch tonight when his team clashes with Liga MX rival Tigres de la UANM. Layun has played inside the Estadio Universitario many times throughout his career and relishes the opportunity to play in front of 42,000 screaming fans. He knows that the first leg will be difficult, especially against a team that is riding a 14 match unbeaten streak. However, Layun is motivated and thrilled for the opportunity to lift the trophy.

“I’ve always liked playing away there,” Layun said in the pregame press conference. “They are going to support Tigres and that can be used by us to go out there and try to silence ‘el Volcan’ (Estadio Universitario). More than putting pressure on, it motivates.”

Extra motivation for Layun comes in the potential 12th title that would surpass Chivas all time if America is able to defeat Tigres and win the Apertura final. Layun was so excited for the opportunity to make history and put supplant America as the greatest team in the history of Mexico that he told reporters that he would get a tattoo of a star on his body should America lift the trophy on Sunday.

The final two games of the year could be Layun’s last in a club America jersey as rumors are rampant that Layun will be off to Europe in 2015 more than likely to play in the Italian Serie A league. Layun refused to answer any questions about his future at the press conference instead saying simply, that he would like to focus on the final. The game kicks off at 9:30PM EST and is sold out.
