The Philippines is sizzling as the beauty queens competing for the Miss Universe 2017 crown took the stage in swimwear during a preliminary competition. All contestants faced the public and the judges for the first time as the competition turned the heat on. During this show the girls also modeled their evening gowns. Based on their performance during this round, the Top 12 will be selected and announced during the live telecast on Sunday, January 29. Steve Harvey is back to host the main event live from the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila Philippines. FOX will be airing the show on Sunday, January 29 at 7pm ET/PT, 6pm CT. The network also confirmed that Flo Rida would perform during the coronation night.
It is rumored that the judging panel is not going to have celebrities like other years, this time titleholders from the past will determine the winner. Latinas that have confirmed their assistance are Lupita Jones (1991), Dayanara Torres (1993), Dayana Mendoza(2008) and Gabriela Isler (2013). Other ladies scheduled to appear are Armi Kuusela (1952), Gloria Diaz (1969), Margie Moran (1973), Porntip Bui Simon (1988), Sushmita Sen (1994), Jennifer Hawkins (2004), Riyo Mori (2007) and Olivia Culpo (2012).
Sushmita Sen who won the crown for India in 1994 confirmed she will be one of the judges during the finale night. "Getting ready with a dancing heart! I am so excited, emotional and looking forward to returning home to the #Philippines after #23years... it's where it all began #manila1994 #missuniverse1994," she posted on Instagram. "Life comes a full circle, from winning Miss Universe, to having owned its Indian Franchise to now returning back to #Manila this time as a judge at the 65th Miss Universe pageant!!
