When we are kids, we don’t pay much attention to what our mom is trying to teach us and we let a lot valuable information pass us by.

We spend most of our childhood focusing on “just being kids.” You know the drill, running around, living our lives and thinking that everything comes easy; without realizing that we have always had our personal guardian angel by our side.

It is not until we are older and start thinking about settling down and having a family of our own that we start thinking about everything our mom did for us.

Moms around the world have a special way of making a learning experience out every situation, but Latino moms have a few trademarked.

Scroll down to take a stroll down memory lane and share some of the things you learned from your mamá in the comment box below. Happy mother's day!

1) Mom taught me how to anticipate: “Just you wait until your father gets here!”

2) She also taught me how to receive: “As soon as we get home, I’m going to give you a (insert punishment word)!”

3) She helped develop my logical thinking: “If you fall from the swing, and you break your neck, you won’t be able to come to the store with me.”

4) She sometimes taught me about medicine: “If you keep crossing your eyes, they are going to get hit by too much air and they’ll stay like that!”

5) She taught me how to look into the future: “If you are not good in grammar class, you’ll never find a good job!”

6) Sometimes she shared her good sense of humor: “If you keep goofing around and the lawnmower cuts your toes, don’t come running back to me!”

7) She was also well aware of genetics: “You are just like your father!”

8) She reminded me of my roots every day during my teenage years: “Do you think you were born in a chiquero?”

9) She made sure I knew I’d understand everything one day: “When you are my age, you’ll understand.”

10) And finally, she taught me all about karma and how the Universe works: “Someday you’ll have kids of your own…and I hope they’re just like you, so you can have a spoonful of your own medicine!”
