The 2013 MTV Video Music Awards are set to air live across the world today, Sunday, August 25. It all starts when the top celebrities in the music business strut down the red carpet starting at 8pm ET during the VMA Pre-Show. Right after that, the main show starts at 9pm ET with an opening performance by Lady Gaga, singing her newest single "Applause." The stage has been setup at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. A feature of this years VMAs is that you will be able to live stream the ceremony with behind-the-scenes access to all the happenings going on backstage. MTV has also gave viewers the right to direct their own VMA experience by giving them control over the camera shots they want to see. 7. Expect The Unexpected
The VMAs started out as the anti-awards show. Everything was fair game in this field and we have seen some of the most unexpected things happen on this stage. One of the most recent ones was when Kanye West interrupted poor little Taylor Swift when she was accepting an award the rapper thought belonged to Beyonce. We know moments like those don't happen every year, but anything is possible on the MTV stage and we are frankly overdue for one already.

6. Twerking
If the MTV Video Music Awards is not the perfect auditorium to count how many times artists twerk, we don't know where else. Top twerking movement aficionada, Miley Cyrus will also be performing, so we can expect her to show us her best twerking moves.
5. Red Carpet Fashion
The looks that some of these music acts wear to these events are so extravagant that they will leave you scratching your head. The VMAs are fun and casual and anybody can wear anything they want. Musicians have a chance on this red carpet to express themselves with the clothes they were as everything is game. This is the same scene that had Lady Gaga wear a meat dress and some weird cast that covered her whole face.

4. One Direction Is Set To Appear
The boys of One Direction are confirmed to make an appearance at the stage, but not performing. Could their be more in store for the British lads than just appearing or are they secretly performing with someone? Could they be maybe uniting forces with another boyband onstage and causing the world to implode from all the hotness? Whatever it is, our body is ready for it.
3. Lady Gaga Returns
Lady Gaga's "little monsters" are getting ready to continue telling the world that they were "born this way." Gaga is scheduled to open up the night and she is sure to have an over-the-top opener as this is her first time performing in public after she was forced to cancel her tour due to a hip injury. Lady is back in form and ready to take over the VMA stage.
2. To Hear Katy Perry Roar
Our dear "California Girl," Katy Perry is set to close off the show with a performance of her latest single, "Roar." We are dying to see what her new look will be like after letting go of her colorful wigs and "Candyland" antics in anticipation of her latest album. This is Katy's test of fire that will forever consolidate her as an artist or have her forgotten forever.
1. 'N Sync Reunion
The main reason to watch the show this year is to see the highly anticipated reunion of 'N Sync. The news of the boys getting back together onstage has not been officially confirmed but insiders have revealed that they will in fact be performing a medley of hits that include "Bye Bye Bye." Justin Timberlake is set to take home the "Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award" for his career in music. If there was a reason to tune into the show, this year will be it.
