Paulina Rubio can finally say she’s a happily divorced woman! La Chica Dorada is more than excited with this news since it puts an end to two years of dragging the divorce, going to court and back and forth allegations about parenting skills. Now, Paulina and Nicolás Vallejo-Nágera, or Colate, as he is known, are officially no longer spouses. It all happened at the Family Court in Miami, Florida, on Thursday, November 13, 2014. The former couple got face to face once again before putting an end to this case.

The judge asked Rubio if she wanted a divorce, to which she replied “I would be very happy if I could get it.” Her lawyer, Luis Padrón, confirmed the divorce through a statement: “Today, mister Vallejo-Nágera has recognized that the marital agreement signed by him and by miss Rubio is valid and fair.” He also added that Colate signed the financial settlement of his son with Paulina, Andrea Nicolás, which was signed by the singer and approved over 18 months ago.

The divorce comes after a long battle full of accusations and missed hearings. The last accusation, in fact came not too long ago by Colate, who insisted Paulina didn’t take their son to school. Meanwhile, Paulina was in fact guilty of prolonging the process, since she missed almost every hearing, including one last week. The judge asked her not to miss her appointments but her lawyer defended her by saying that she’s the one who works to sustain her son, and to also pay alimony to Colate.

Among the terms of their divorce, Colate will receive the sum of US $243,000 divided into 3 years, receiving US $6,750 monthly. Colate is also prohibited from profiting from his son though the media. There were no details available on the conditions of the child’s custody. He usually lives with his mother and his father visits him regularly. The divorce was finally signed even though Vallejo-Nágera had asked for an increase in the pension he gets from Paulina, and argued that he had received death threats. He even stated that he didn’t want to travel to Mexico because he feared for his life, but later admitted those allegations were fake during the final divorce hearing.

Paulina and Colate began dating in 2005, got married in 2007 and filed for divorce in 2012.
