Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will visit the United Kingdom and Germany in September to participate in several charity events.
"Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are delighted to visit with several charities close to their hearts in early September," a spokesperson for the Sussexes said on Monday.
Harry and Meghan will reportedly fly to Manchester for the One Young World Summit event – a gathering of young leaders from more than 190 countries. After that, the couple will travel to Germany for the Invictus Games Dusseldorf 2023 One Year to Go event. On Sept. 8, Harry and Meghan will return to the UK for the WellChild Awards.
The pair could possibly use their trip to the UK to spend more time with Queen Elizabeth. Harry and Meghan's last visit to Britain was during the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, wherein they spent "barely 15 minutes" with her. The couple was not invited to be on the Buckingham Palace balcony, as only working royals were included. Harry and Meghan withdrew from the senior working royal duties in 2020.
Meanwhile, Harry and Meghan most likely won't meet Prince William and Kate Middleton. The royal brothers have not spoken with each other since the historic unveiling of Prince Diana's statue. According to the palace aides, they planned things ahead of the Platinum Jubilee so Harry and Meghan would not bump into Kate and William. The Sussexes even sat apart from the Cambridges, Prince Charles and Camilla, in the church. Their departure and arrival schedules were also carefully considered by the aides.
It is still uncertain if Archie and Lilibet will accompany the couple during their busy schedule next month. Harry and Meghan's announcement regarding their planned visits in September comes after the British royal reportedly filed a second lawsuit against the government over the decision not to permit him to personally pay for police protection when he visits his homeland.
Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told Daily Mail, "The reports that the Queen had invited Harry and Meghan to Balmoral were never confirmed. However it would only make sense for them to see her when she is at Windsor and when they are based at Frogmore, as they could only spend a very little time with her during the Platinum Jubilee."
Meanwhile, Phil Dampier believed that Harry and Meghan could meet the Queen at Balmoral. "Whether he meets the Queen will probably depend on her. If she tells them she wants to see them I'm sure they will pop in for a chat. I'm sure she would hope the relaxed atmosphere there would be more conducive to talking things through and trying to solve the problems they all face."
"Meghan won't like the hunting shooting and fishing environment of the Highlands but the Queen would feel much more comfortable meting them there rather than a rushed meeting in London."
