Prince George of Cambridge, the son of Prince William and Kate Middleton, will be christened on Wednesday October 22, 2013. Prince George Alexander Louis, affectionately known as "Baby Cambridge," will be baptized in the chapel of Saint James Palace by the Archbishop of Canterbury Jason Welby. The ceremony will take place at 3pm and has been described as a low key affair. The royal couple has been known to break with tradition when it comes to royal engagements and it is said they are looking to give their child as normal a life as possible.

Prince William knows best of all that a normal childhood is not an easy thing to achieve for a future King of England. As the Prince of Cambridge's mother was in labor the whole world tuned in -- or stood outside the hospital barricades -- in the hopes of catching a glimpse of the baby who is now third in line to the British throne. Despite the pomp and circumstance surrounding the child's birth the royal parents have decided the baby's christening will be a private affair with only 60 guests.

The Archbishop of Canterbury spoke about the Royal Baby's baptism in a YouTube video. The Archbishop spoke about the ritual of baptism and what it means. Welby also described the ceremony and how he will baptize the young prince. The Archbishop said the baptism of all babies are special because it symbolizes the child belongs to God. The Archbishop added that the nation will be celebrating this baptism because "we're celebrating the birth of someone who in due course will be the head of state."

The last royal baby to be baptized in the Chapel Royal was Prince William's cousin Princess Beatrice. The daughter of the Duke of York, Princess Beatrice was baptized in December of 1988. Prince George will be christened wearing a replica gown of lace and satin, which was made for Queen Victoria's daughter, Victoria the Princess Royal. Every royal baby from the time of Princess Victoria (1841) has worn that gown at their baptism. In 2004, Queen Elizabeth II decided that the gown was too fragile and had a replica made.

The ceremony's guest list has not been announced, but is has been reported that only close members of the royal family shall attend. Once the ceremony is over, an official photo will be released showing the Queen with the three future kings, George, the Prince of Wales, Prince William and Prince George.
