Rumors had been swirling about Benicio Del Toro joining the cast of the next installment of the “Star Wars” saga. The Walt Disney Co. finally confirmed Monday the news on the Puerto Rican actor, as well as Laura Dern and Kelly Marie Tran. The Academy Award winner will join fellow Latinos Oscar Isaac and Lupita Nyong’o for the upcoming “Episode VIII.”

Del Toro had pretty much given away the news at an interview with Barcelona radio station RAC1, where he went back and forth with his answers but basically confirmed his involvement. “We don’t start (shooting) until February or March,” he revealed. “They don’t let me talk too much about it, but it is as a villain. We’ll see.” Disney in fact confirmed it with an announcement that came with a video showing how the studio plans to start shooting “right where ‘The Force Awakens’ left off.”

In addition, more cast members have been confirmed to either join or return, (SPOILER ALERT: do not continue reading if you don’t want to read a hint on the previous movie’s ending)… such as Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie and Andy Serkis, amongst others.
