“Storage Wars” has been spawned a seriously dedicated legion of fans following it’s 5 years on A&E, however fans are rallying behind one specific cast member more than ever following a near death health scare. “Storage Wars” auctioneer Dan Dotson recently suffered a terrifying double brain aneurysm.

Dotson, who stars on the series with wife and fellow auctioneer Laurie Dotson has been in medical care since June 16 after suffering the double brain aneurysm, he was initially given a 4 to 20 percent chance to live, but luckily underwent a successful surgery on June 17.

Dotson revealed to TMZ that though the aneurysm was serious and life threatening, he did not suffer any permanent damage. However, while his health is stable, Dotson is making a few permanent changes of his own after making a miraculous recovery. Dotson revealed that he is giving up cigarettes for good, Laurie told TMZ that her husband immediately decided to quit smoking cigarettes after waking up from his surgery on Wednesday.

Dotson admitted that his decision to quit came from his doctor’s advice that it would greatly reduce the risk of suffering another aneurysm incident. Dan has been smoking cigarettes for 40 years so the move is a brave one, in addition his son was reportedly so moved by his father’s decision that he too vowed to live a healthier lifestyle.

Dotson was released from the hospital on Sunday, and told TMZ that he will be allowed to return to work in 2 weeks. However “Storage Wars” fans will have to wait to see their favorite fast talking auctioneer in action because doctors have ordered him to rest soundly at home, with regular checkups every hours focused mainly on his blood pressure. Dan added that it truly was a miracle he survived the incident, praising his medical team for giving him a second chance at life.
