National Stress Awareness Day takes place on April 16, 2015. The day was started by the Health Resource Network (HRN) in 1992 to raise awareness of stress. On this day, we should take a chance to take a deep breath and relax. Doctors have addressed the issues that the body can have if you put it under a lot of stress. Among them are: raise blood pressure, increase the risk of heart attack and stroke, increase vulnerability to anxiety and depression, contribute to infertility, and fasten the aging process.

At Latin Times, we want to encourage our readers to take a moment today and reflect on all the bad things that come with stressing too much. And because we want to see you all happy and healthy, we did some research and found some simple ways that will help you have a stress-free life.

Here are the 10 Best Ways to Reduce Stress:

1) Decorate with lavender: Its soothing scent can lower your heart rate and blood pressure which will help you relax, and even make you a little sleepy.

2) Take a bath: Being emerged in water has a soothing effect, it takes us back to our time in the womb which helps us loosen up.

3) Give yourself a scalp massage: We all know how good it feels when we are at the hair salon and someone’s washing our hair, right? Try it when you feel stress is taking over you. It will help tension melt away.

4) Sip chamomile tea: Studies show that herbs contained in chamomile tea might have the same effect as drugs used as muscle relaxers. Try the natural way first!

5) Step in the sauna: If you have access to a sauna or steam room go ahead and jump in! When your body heats up muscle tension and anxiety reduce.

6) Meditation: Give yourself some silent time to let your thoughts run free.

7) Eat Healthy: The healthier you eat, the stronger your body gets. This is no news but everyone needs a reminder every now and then.

8) Limit Internet and cellphone use: It is important to disconnect. We need to find a balance between our work life, and our LIFE. Make the effort!

9) Exercise: As Elle Woods said: “Exercise releases endorphins, endorphins make you happy!” Get to it!

10) Sex: It is no secret that a healthy sex life can do wonders on our stress levels. No more headaches!
